We have never been anything like an English Territorial Society. Far from it. Our geography would never permit it.
How many NAG members have ever been a member of an English Territorial Society? Very very few.
Besides the problem with ringing numbers declining in the UK has more to do with computers/television, the need for CBR, etc., and the downfall of the Church of England. North American Society is for the most part passed that and is looking for something more challenging.
Each area has its own needs, that is for certain. But filling out the Guild's numbers with non-ringers is not the way to go. How does that attract more ringers? It simply weakens the Guild.
The USA is very fortunate in that is has had more new towers in recent years than any where else in the world. The membership numbers are climbing all the time. So where is the problem?
