On July 30th twenty people gathered at Groton for the summer meeting. It was a lovely day, a little cooler than predicted, and with windows open and fans on the ringing room wasn't too hot and stuffy. An early complication with the stay on the 4, which had moved out of place and was scraping the runnerboard, was fixed (thanks to Ricky, who had brought tools). After that we had no mechanical problems. We did lots of rounds and hunting on ten, rang some Grandsire Caters and Plain and Little Bob Royal, plus a couple of other short things. Prize for the farthest traveled goes to Bill Kollar and Carolyn Ormes, who ring in DC, who were in the area visiting Carolyn's sister. The picnic under a shady tree near the chapel was convivial, and then we went our separate ways. In addition to people in the photo and Bill & Carolyn, who refused to be photographed, attendees included Alice Coggeshall, Doug Brown (who stopped by to chat), and Greg & Cathy Russell, who missed the ringing but made it for the end of the picnic. Thanks to Mira Whiting for the photograph.
