Beryl died Friday evening (the 23rd). This is the post on her CaringBridge site, written by her daughter Xela Indurkhya.
Our mother passed away at 21:15 tonight. She had been mostly unconscious since Wednesday evening, and we spent the last three days keeping her company and making her as comfortable as possible. Her passing was peaceful.
She donated her body to her oncologist for study, after which she will be cremated. We are in the process of setting up an e-memorial at http://www.never-gone.com/memorials/berylnelson and there will be a celebration of life service at a later date, to be announced.
Thank you for all your support and compassion throughout her battle with her disease.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations to the research fund of Dr. Alice Fan, Stanford University.
To make your gift online, please follow this link https://alumni-med.stanford.edu/get/page/makeagift?pgnTPC=399&olc=06421&stp=1&cturl=close&gdso=14&pgOrg=msa , select “Other” in the second pull-down menu, and note “Dr. Alice Fan Research Fund” in the Special Instructions/Other Designation field. You may also note that this is in honor of Beryl Nelson.
If your employer matches gifts to charitable organizations, after you click through to the transaction page where you will enter your payment information, you will want to click the box that says “I will submit a matching gift from my employer” at the bottom (directly beneath the payment details section). You can then send in a copy of your matching gift form to Christine Bauer.
