It is with much sadness that I advise that Judith Hunt, a long time ringer at St. James Cathedral, Toronto, has passed away. Judith was an integral member of the Cathedral band from its inception, joining in 1997 when the bells were installed. She rang 27 quarter peals at the Cathedral. While Judith did not travel to ringing events in North America, she was routinely present for NAG events in Toronto, and always willing to assist wherever needed. She also rang in both Farnham and Arundel (where she learned to ring) whenever she was in the UK. As well, on one of my visits to the UK, Judith and I rang at All Saints, Odiham, joined the lunchtime group at St. Andrews, Holborne, and rang with the University of London band at St. Lawrence Jewry - definitely outclassed there, but kindly welcomed!
Judith’s funeral will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at St. James the Less Chapel, in Toronto, at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at St. James Cathedral Parish Centre. Memorial ringing will take place at a later date.
