Do you want a higher percentage of your ringing students to become competent ringers? Do you want to reduce fear in the teaching process? Do you want to help your students avoid getting stuck? Do you want to continue to improve your teaching?
As you may know, the North American Guild of Change Ringers sponsored a series of ART (Association of Ringing Teachers) courses this summer. The ART courses tend to be geared toward helping a ringer become a ringing teacher. In addition to guiding new ringing teachers and giving experienced ringing teachers additional skills, the classes this summer enhanced connections among the very select community of ringers who dare teach new ringers.
We would like to continue, expand and deepen those connections. We would also like to help all ringing teachers further develop their teaching skills.
To that end, we are scheduling an ongoing series of Zoom meetings for ringing teachers where we can exchange ideas and current practices. We hope to provide an opportunity to support, encourage and challenge each other.
Note that attendance is not limited to those who have attended ART courses. We encourage all ringing teachers to attend.
While the format will surely evolve, initially we envision sessions of about 45 minutes with a brief gathering time (5 minutes), a brief presentation (10 minutes) and group discussions, perhaps with small groups in breakout rooms as the number of attendees dictates.
Information, including times and Zoom details, will be posted on the guild website and sent to the NAGCR-Teach@groups.io email list. The information is also in this email. The Zoom details will remain the same for all future sessions.
The current plan is to meet in even numbered months, alternating between the 3rd Saturday and the 3rd Sunday of that month.
