Two first peals in Washington...

...at the same time!

by Haley Barnett

Eight members of the Washington Ringing Society (WRS) gathered after work on Monday, November 30 in pursuit of an excellent goal: to ring a peal that would be the first for two of our developing ringers. Rick DuPuy and Rob Bannister had been working hard towards the goal, and Rob had recently rung the treble to a touch of over 5000 changes that, sadly, ended in something other than rounds (sigh). Rob and Rick are regular attendees at both WRS weekly practices and Sunday service ringing, and the time they've put in to developing their ringing skills has shown in both their striking and their method ringing.

The peal of Plain Bob Triples was, by all accounts, pretty good. Alex Taft ably conducted; the supporting cast consisted of (treble-tenor) Quilla Roth, Greg Watson, Mike Harrison, Haley Barnett, and Cecily Rock. Many more WRS members were wishing us well. I know I am not alone when I say I look forward to many more years of ringing, peals and otherwise, with Rob and Rick. Congratulations!

Thanks, Scott; and many thanks to all involved for making this happen (and indulging me in my insistence on triples). I enjoyed it, and I know Rob did too.
