Three peal successes for Charleston area ringers

by Rosalie Crouch

Three "firsts" in Charleston

A band of Society of Royal Cumberland Youths was recently visiting the Charleston area and provided the opportunities for three of our ringers to have "firsts" in peal ringing:

Eve Gentieu rang her first peal, ringing the treble to plain bob major at the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul, Steve Collins rang his first peal of treble bob as the treble to Belfast Surprise Major at Stella Maris, and Noah Smith rang his first peal of surprise, ringing the 4th bell in Cambridge Major at Grace. Congratulations to all three of them.

Huzzah! Congratulations all around!

I"m coming down to Charleston tomorrow 11/20 and staying through the New Year. What say we put together some QPs?

I rang the Cambridge Major with Noah, and he was unflappable - an attribute that every ringer should aspire to! It was a long, hard peal (for me at least), but Noah stayed cool and calm the whole 3 hours 15 minutes. Congratulations to Steve and Eve also - I look forward to ringing with all three of the pealers in February for Ring Around Charleston.
